Mordechai Spiegler flew on Wednesday to Crete on behalf of Israel's national soccer team to "spy" on Greece in its 1-1 friendly draw with Denmark. Israel faces a double-header against the 2004 Euro winners in its first World Cup qualifying tie on March 28 and April 1, after edging Hungary 1-0 in Thursday's friendly. Spiegler is the national team's record scorer, with 33 goals to his credit in 83 games. He told Greek media he was impressed by the home side's performance, in particularly by strikers Georgios Samaras (who plays for Scotland's Celtic) and Angelos Charisteas (of Germany's Bayer Leverkusen), and defender Giourkas Seitaridis (of Spain's Atletico Madrid).
