Israeli tennis player Shahar Peer Sunday claimed her first career title after beating Croatia's Jelena Kostanic in the Pattaya Open finals in Thailand.
18-year-old Peer, who did not lose a set during the entire week-long tournament, beat Kostanic 6-3, 6-1 in Sunday's finals.
The Croatian broke an early 3-0 lead, but Peer's more aggressive game paid off as she came from behind to win six straight games in the first set. The second set proved easier for the Israeli, who broke off with a 4-1 lead.
This was the first title for Peer, who is now expected to climb to be seeded 35th in the world ranking.
