The Bible Lands Museum is a relative newcomer to the venerable Jerusalem museum scene, opening its doors in 1992. Its brief is to cover Biblical history through ancient Near Eastern art, from the dawn of civilization through to the early Christian era, illustrating the cultures of all the peoples mentioned in the Bible - from Egypt eastwards across the Fertile Crescent to Afghanistan, and from Nubia north to the Caucasian mountains.
The museum's shop sells an exclusive selection of Museum reproductions, as well as handmade jewelry, museum publications, T-shirts, accessories, toys, books and souvenirs.
A special highlight is the 'Antika' range of be-your-own-archaeologist kits for children. Each kit includes the shards of a replica pot from a site in the Holy Land as well as restoration instructions and materials and an explanation about the beginnings of ancient pottery.
