The Israeli citizen who crossed the border into Lebanon illegally earlier this week has been handed over to the International Red Cross, Lebanese media reported on Saturday.
The Red Cross in Israel confirmed the report, saying that 34-year-old Simon Saadati is set to return to Israel through the Rosh Hanikra crossing on Sunday.
The Israel Defense Forces could not confirm the report, but a source in the Israeli army said that it is likely the report is credible.
On Wednesday, Lebanon's army arrested Saadati after he crossed the northern border near Rosh Hanikra. The IDF said a lookout station near the border only noticed the man after he made it over the fence and entered Lebanon.
After his arrest, the IDF said it expected Saadati to be interrogated, and that he would be released and returned to Israel once Lebanese intelligence established he is not an Israeli soldier or agent.
