An ex-Israeli Envoy's New Mission

Colette Avital talks to 'Journeys' about her eventful career as a diplomat and her latest role defending Israel's last remaining Holocaust survivors.

Israeli diplomat and politician Colette Avital was born in Romania during World War II. Since her childhood in Europe, she has surmounted multiple challenges, first during the Holocaust, then as an immigrant to Israel and later as a woman rising through the ranks of the Foreign Ministry. She discusses her life experiences as a diplomat and Labor lawmaker with Rogel Alpher and also tells him about her latest role as chairwoman of the Center of Organizations of Holocaust Survivors, an umbrella group which represents over 50 organizations.
