A monument honoring an Israeli rabbi killed in a terror attack in the West Bank last year was desecrated late Monday, strewing paint and broken bottles around the memorial erected at the site of the shooting.
A set of Israeli flags set up at the memorial were also stolen.
Rabbi Meir Hai, a 40-year-old teacher and father of seven, was killed when militants opened fire at his vehicle on the near his home in the Shavei Shomron settlement on December 24, 2009.
The Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported that the Imad Mughniyeh Group, affiliated with Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, had claimed responsibility for the shooting.
The gunmen were later tracked down and killed by Israel Defense Forces in a raid.
