An IDF soldier was wounded Thursday morning in a training accident when he was accidentally shot by a fellow combatant during a field exercise south of Nablus.
According to a preliminary investigation of the incident, soldiers of the Kfir Brigade were holding an exercise near the Hawara crossing, simulating different contingencies. During the training exercise one of the combatant's rifle fired.
The wounded soldier was rushed to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva. The GOC Central Command announced that it will be forming a investigative team to look into the incident.
Less than a month ago, Yehoshua Hefetz, a 19-year-old soldier from Jerusalem, died after collapsing during a training exercise at the Combat Engineering Corps School in the Negev. Hefetz was rushed to Eilat's Yoseftal Medical Center, were he died.
On that same day, another accident took place in the army when two soldiers from the Druze Battalion Herev sustained light injuries when a gun accidently fired when the soldiers were cleaning their rifles. They both were rushed to the Soroka Medical Center. The IDF said it was investigating that incident as well.
