Israeli Paraglider Killed in Peru

Doron Lugassi, 39, dies in accident during competition in city of Huancayo.

An Israeli man was killed late Friday as took part in a paragliding competition in Peru, Israeli media reported on Saturday.

Doron Lugassi, 39, crashed into the ground at high speed after his paraglider was caught by a heavy gust of wind.


He suffered heavy injuries and later died in hospital.

An Australian competitor was also badly hurt as fliers struggled to cope with the harsh conditions.

A year ago, a 23-year-old Israel woman, Galit Sasson, was killed when she slipped and fell into a ravine near Cuzco, a popular tourist site.
