Israel is holding a national emergency response drill on Monday simulating a large scale missile attack from Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.
The drill consists of two parts:, the first took place at 12:30 P.M., when a siren prompted Israelis to drop everything, go to a nearby shelter and wait 10 minutes.
During the second part of the drill, to take place at 7:05 P.M., the siren will once again sound and people are instructed to go to a shelter and wait there for 10 minutes.
The IDF stressed that vital services, including hospitals will continue functioning as normal during the drill. Traffic, both private and public, will continue as normal as well.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said "The threat to the Israeli home front has grown substantially over recent years. Israel is the country most threatened by missiles and rockets, and we shall prepare ourselves for any contingency."
