The Israeli army shelled the Gaza Strip late Thursday, after militants in the enclave launched at least one rocket against a town in southern Israel.
Gaza medical officials said three people were injured when the Israeli shells struck a neighborhood in eastern Gaza City. No injuries were reported from the rocket strike.
Palestinian militants in the Strip have recently increased their rocket fire at southern Israel after weeks of quiet. Israel routinely retaliates with airstrikes and shelling.
Earlier on Thursday, IDF launched an air strike against two Gaza city training facilities operated by the armed wing of the Islamist militant movement Hamas, witnesses and officials said. No casualties were reported.
