Israel Defense Forces killed an armed Palestinian militant on Friday afternoon after he approached the security fence on the Israel-Gaza border and opened fire.
The incident occurred after earlier today, the army's Home Front Command requested that Israeli residents in villages near the Gaza border to be on rocket alert and remain at a distance of 15 seconds from shelter.
On Friday, an armed Palestinian approached the security fence, not far from Kibbutz Zikim and opened fire. Army troops returned fire, killing him.
There were no Israeli casualties, according to the IDF.
On Thursday, the Israeli army attacked a terrorist cell preparing to fire an anti-tank missile at an IDF patrol near the border's security fence. IDF spokesperson reported the cell strike was successful. Palestinians said three men were injured, one of them critically.
A few hours later, the Israeli Air Force launched a strike directed at targets in northern Gaza. A Palestinian official said that one armed Hamas militant was killed, another wounded.
Earlier this week, shots were fired at a restaurant located at the Yad Mordechai Junction, in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council. Immediately after the shooting, two mortar shells were fired, and though they were aimed at a town in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council, they fell and exploded in Gaza.
