Autumn, it seems, may have officially come as Israel's first major rain system of the season descended on the country on Thursday, mainly falling in the northern and central regions.
Significant showers surprised dozens of bathers at a Bat Yam beach, who were quick to run out of the water and find shelter. Rain was also reported in Tel Aviv, Haifa and throughout the western Galilee.
The sudden precipitation originated in a cold font that had lingered in the last few days over Greece and is expected to move on toward Turkey in the weekend.
Meteotek estimated that as much as 10 mm of rain would fall on Thursday.
