The Finance Minister's proposal to increase the value of use of company vehicles will be changed, declared new Knesset Finance Committee Chairman Stas Misezhnikov (Yisrael Beiteinu) to TheMarker. Misezhnikov said that the Finance Committee was an important junction, and that he would work in coordination with the government. However, he stressed that not all proposals submitted to the committee would be returned in their original wording.
The Finance Committee elected Misezhnikov as chairman, replacing ousted MK Yakov Litzman, who had served in the position for five years.
Ten MKs voted in favor of ousting Litzman and nine against, including two Shas party members. Fifteen MKs supported the appointment of Misezhnikov, two opposed it, and two abstained.
All committee members, including those who supported his ousting, complimented Litzman. Labor MK Shelly Yachimovich expressed concern over placing responsibility in the hands of Yisrael Beitenu, which she described as "a right-wing party with racist elements and a neo-liberal agenda."
MK Avishay Braverman (Labor) said that "decisions on appointments in this government are not made according to who is most suitable to serve as minister."
