A 41-year-old woman was stabbed to death Sunday morning in Be'er Sheva in what police suspect was a murder-suicide carried out by the woman's ex-husband.
The woman's 44-year-old ex-husband, the prime suspect in the murder, jumped to his death shortly after he stabbed her. At 11:38 AM, Magen David Adom rescue services rushed to the scene after they were notified that a man had jumped out of a window on Massada Street in Be'er Sheva.
When the MDA team arrived, they found the man's ex-wife stabbed in multiple places throughout her body, and determined her dead. The man was taken to Soroka hospital in critical condition, where he was also pronounced dead.
The police are currently investigating both the suicide and alleged murder. An initial probe has revealed that the man served prison time four years ago due to domestic violence charges.
According to the woman's neighbors, the couple had three children but had been divorced for three years. One neighbor added that "In the past, he was violent toward her; however he has actually been around a lot lately. He would bring her money and toys for the children. He also used to sit with her from time to time."
Two months ago a man and woman were found shot in an apartment on Etzel Street in Netanya. According to initial reports, the 34-year-old man shot his 25-year-old wife in the head and then attempted suicide.
The man worked in security and was licensed to carry a gun. The couple's three-year-old daughter was present when the shooting took place. She was unharmed and put in the custody of social services.
The woman was critically injured and taken to Laniado Hospital in Netanya, anesthetized and put on a ventilator. The man was brought to Laniado Hospital as well, in serious condition with shot wounds to his chest.
At the end of October 43-year-old Petah Tikva resident Avi Andargia stabbed his 31-year-old wife in their home, after which he hung himself. Neighbors heard the commotion and alerted the police.
An MDA team arrived to the scene shortly thereafter, pronouncing Andargiya dead. His wife was taken to Beilinson hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead upon arrival.
