Israel returns body of alleged Hebron attacker

Israel has returned the body of Kalzar al-Awiwi, an 18-year-old Palestinian suspected of attempting a stabbing attack against soldiers on Saturday morning. A funeral will be held for her in Hebron on Sunday. 

Her family told Haaretz that she was an outstanding student and expressed surprise at her role in the incident: "We have no explanation for what happened, our feeling is that she joined a string of other Palestinian youths who chose to go this way, possibly as an attempt to express disappointment, frustration or anger."

Police: Four officers wounded, not three as previously reported

The number of policemen hurt in the suspected car-ramming attack near Ma'aleh Adumim on Saturday afternoon is four, and not three as previously reported, police says.

One Border Police officer was wounded when the suspects' car attempted to run over the police force and three others were injured from the impact, when the car collided into the police vehicle blocking their escape route, police added.

Initial probe: Car-ramming suspects tried to flee police

A preliminary investigation into the car-ramming incident near Ma'aleh Adumim suggests that the police identified two Palestinians crossing the security fence and heading to a car waiting for them on the Israeli side. A Border Police response force was dispatched to the scene, and a car chase ensued.

Palestinian car smashed into Border Police vehicle, wounding passengers

In an update to its earlier report on the suspected car-ramming attack near Ma'aleh Adumim, MDA said that a car with three Palestinian passengers collided with a Border Police vehicle carrying the three officers.

The three officers were taken to Hadassah University Hospital, Ein Karem for further treatment.

Three wounded in suspected car-ramming attack near Ma'aleh Adumim

Three Border Police officers were lightly wounded in a suspected car-ramming attack on the road leading from Jerusalem to the settlement of Ma'aleh Adumim, near the Metzudat Adumim base on Saturday afternoon, emergency services said in an initial report.

The three victims, aged 21, 29 and 43, are being treated at the scene, the Magen David Adom ambulance service said.

The suspected attack was carried out by three Palestinians, who were shot by the police force. Two suffered light wounds and one was moderately wounded, according to the MDA report.

Stabbing attempted in Hebron; attacker shot dead

A Palestinian woman attempted to stab an Israeli soldier in Hebron Saturday afternoon. She was shot and killed at the scene.

The attacker was reported to have pulled a knife out of her bag and tried to stab the soldier near the entrance to the Jewish Quarter in Hebron at around 1 P.M. She was identified as 18-year-old Kalzar al-Awiwi from Hebron.

The 20-year-old soldier was very lightly wounded and a 30-year-old Palestinian bystander was moderately wounded in the attack.

The soldier was treated at the scene by Magen David Adom and the Palestinian man was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.
