An Iron Dome battery was activated for the first time on the border with Syria, in attempt to intercept a mortar shell which landed in Israeli territory Wednesday evening.
The Israeli army believes the shell was a case of errant fire, probably part of the celebrations of the Syrian election. No damage or casualties were reported.
Syrian media reported Wednesday evening that the Israel Defense Forces targeted two military vehicles near the Syrian city of Qunetra, near the border, but the IDF denied any knowledge of this action.
In late March the IDF fired and most likely killed two persons near the border fence at the center of the Golan Heights. According to sources in the IDF, the two were armed and were trying to sabotage the army's operational infrastructure at the border.
Several days before, the Israeli air force struck several Syrian army posts in the Syrian part of the Golan Heights. The IDF stated that air force targeted a command center, artillery batteries and a training facility, in response to an incident in which four Israeli soldiers were wounded the day before.
