A 7-year-old girl was severely wounded in the central Israeli city of Netanya on Monday after her uncle, who is believed to be mentally ill, stabbed her in the neck.

Paramedics who responded on the scene rushed the girl to the nearby Laniado Hospital.

The uncle, 38, was arrested, and police said he confessed to the crime.

Police believe the man to be mentally ill.
