Haifa-Hadera train services suspended after freight derails
By Haaretz Service
Tags: Haifa, Israel Railways

Train services between Haifa and Hadera were suspended Tuesday morning after a freight train derailed near Binyamina.

Israel Railways said that the disruption was expected to continue until the evening, and that the Tel Aviv-Hadera and Haifa-Nahariya services were unaffected.

About two months ago, the Haifa-Tel Aviv service was suspended after a fire raged in the Hadera area, causing severe delays.

Also two months ago, the train speed limit in the south of Israel was reduced due to the heat, after a survey carried out by an Israel Railways team found that the exceptionally high temperature of the tracks might induce derailment.
