Residents of moshav with sky-high asthma rates fear quarry's reopening

Sara has asthma. So does the woman who lives across the street from her, her next door neighbor and most of the family down the road.

Almost half the residents of Moshav Mesilat Zion are Cochin Jews, who immigrated from southern India. An unusually high number of them suffer from asthma.

ust is every asthma patient's worst nightmare. But for the residents of Mesilat Zion, it's about to become an inescapable reality, thanks to a quarry located only 900 meters away, which is scheduled to reopen.
