Political cartoonists visit Israel to promote peace through satire
By Haaretz Staff and Channel 10

Haaretz.com/Channel 10 daily feature for June 24, 2008.

It's amazing what bridges are built when the common language is political satire.

'Cartooning for Peace', a movement born at a United Nations conference in 2006, brought the region's leading political cartoonists to Israel and the Palestinian territories for an exhibit last week.

The initiative was conceived by Plantu, a French political cartoonist at Le Monde, in aftermath of the rifts caused by the Mohammed cartoon crisis in Europe and a controversial Iranian Holocaust cartoon exhibit.
