Toffee and Allegra, who can now be found galloping in open spaces under the care of warm families, weren't always this well off. Both were saved in the last several weeks from life-threatening abuse and near starvation.

The media has exposed several horrific stories of horse abuse in the last two years, and since then, the Agriculture Ministry has stepped up efforts to rescue the animals from abusive owners.
