Taxi cab overturns on West Bank road, killing 2 Palestinians
By Haaretz Service
Tags: Palestinians, road accidents

Two Palestinians were killed and seven injured as the result of an overturned taxi cab on a road near the West Bank settlement of Ma'aleh Adumim on Monday. Two of the injured are listed in moderate conditions while one person was lightly hurt.

Investigators say it appears that one of the cab's tires was punctured as it drove in the direction of Jericho, causing it to overturn. The highway connecting Jerusalem to the Dead Sea has been blocked to traffic from Ma'aleh Adumim heading to the direction of Jericho.

Three people were killed in road accidents throughout the country over the weekend and four were seriously injured. On Saturday, a 50-year-old pedestrian was killed when a car struck him on a highway in Haifa. Earlier, the driver of a vehicle was killed after his car veered off of its lane on Highway 79 and collided with an oncoming truck. On Thursday night, one youth was killed and two were injured, one seriously, in a road accident in Beit Shemesh.
