Group calls for end to arms transfer to Palestinian Authority
Tags: weapons

The Legal Forum for the Land of Israel on Friday called for a halt to the transfer of arms to the Palestinian Authority.

The group's demand comes in the wake of Friday's drive-by shooting in which three Israeli hikers were wounded, one seriously and two lightly, in the Binyamin region, near the West Bank city of Ramallah.

"We must examine the source of the weapons used in the attack," said Nachi Eyal, director general of the Legal Forum, a right-wing advocacy group acting to protect human rights in Israel, ensure sound government and preserve the national interests of the State of Israel and the Jewish people.

Eyal added, "The forum's attorneys will investigate the legal aspects and possible prosecution of anyone who from now on arms the Palestinian Authority. Leaders can no longer claim that the PA and its supporters do not use their weapons to harm Israeli civilians."

MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union) said, "The attempted murder of the hikers in Binyamin is a direct result of the Israeli government's betrayal and surrender to Hamas." He added, "The Arabs aren't stupid. They understand that the Israeli government surrendered to terror on all fronts."
