Teacher collapses and dies during soccer tournament at school
By Jack Khoury, Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: Israel, teacher

A mathematics teacher collapsed and died on Sunday during the course of a soccer game at the western Galilee school in which he teaches.

The 66-year-old teacher was playing in a soccer tournament along with his co-workers at the school, located in Cabri, when he collapsed. His fellow teachers attempted to resuscitate him and summoned emergency medical workers from the nearby Magen David Adom station in Nahariya.

Magen David Adom paramedics attempted to revive the teacher, performing advanced CPR including mouth to mouth resuscitation and administring fluids and drugs, and began transporting him to the hospital in Nahariya. However, the man's condition deteriorated and the medical team pronounced his death en route to the hospital.
