Police suspect Taibeh man murdered 22-year-old as part of 'blood feud'

Police have detained a 42-year-old resident of Taibeh on suspicion that he was involved in the kidnapping and murder of Yassim Salameh, a 22-year-old resident of the central Israel city.

Police brought the suspect to a remand hearing on Wednesday, where they will seek an extension of his remand pending further investigation.

Last June, two cars collided near the Taibeh bridge. When police arrived they found that a passenger in one of the cars, Salameh, had disappeared from the scene and they suspected he was kidnapped.

The police formed a special investigative team following the incident and in December Salameh's body was found in a field in Taibeh.

Police have stated that the murder is related to a reputed "blood feud" involving the suspect and the victim.
