Author Thomas L. Friedman: Military leverage on Iran only short-term option

Visiting New York Times columnist Thomas L. Friedman on Wednesday answered questions from Guy Rolnik, deputy publisher of the Haaretz Group and editor-in-chief of TheMarker, on the United States' presidential race, Iran and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Referring to Iran's nuclear ambitions, Friedman stated that while lowering the price of oil would be the best way to influence the Islamic Republic in the long-term, the only option for the short-term is a military solution.

Israel and some Western powers fear Iran is covertly attempting to develop nuclear weapons. Iran insists its plans are peaceful.
