Microsoft homes in on Zoomix By Guy Griml Tags: hi-tech, israel, microsoft  Microsoft is in advanced talks to buy the Israeli startup Zoomix, which would be its eighth acquisition in Israel. The price will apparently be in the range of $25 million to $35 million. An official announcement is expected within days. Neither Zoomix nor Jerusalem Venture Partners, its main backer, would comment for this report. Zoomix addresses problems with data quality. The software engine it developed can identify whether enterprise data has been saved and stored with mistakes, and can then correct the mistakes. Basically, using the Zoomix engine, the enterprise avoids storing bad data at one-tenth the time that competing solutions require, the company says. The sale to Microsoft would constitute an emotional closure of sorts for Zoomix's founders. The startup was founded in 1999, rather belatedly considering that its conception began two years earlier. The founders proudly rejected a $10 million takeover offer by Tradeum, which was later itself sold for $507 million.
