Bnei Brak teens accused of raping younger sisters
By Roni Singer-Heruti
Tags: rape, ultra-Orthodox

Two teenage brothers from Bnei Brak have been arrested on suspicion of raping four of their underage sisters "out of boredom." The brothers, aged 16 and 17, confessed to raping at least three of their sisters, aged 9, 10 and 11, over the course of several years.

The brothers, who were arrested on the basis of their sisters' testimony, are also suspected of raping their 13-year-old sister.

Three sisters attend a boarding school, where one of them told staff members that for several years she was being sexually assaulted at home, when she went back for vacations. Police investigators questioned the three sisters, who confirmed the suspicions.

"It's still not clear how many years these acts have been going on, but we suspect the two brothers raped and sexually abused their sisters when they came home on weekends and holidays," Dan District Youth Officer Yigal Bensky said.

The sisters told police that their older brothers had recently started molesting the younger sister, aged 9, as well, while they had been raping the older ones for several years.

The assaults took place mostly at night but also during the day, when the children's parents were not at home, police said.

The brothers would take one sister at a time into a room in their apartment and rape her. Although they did not beat the girls, the brothers reportedly threatened them not to tell anyone of their assaults.

The family has 10 children and police are checking whether any others were abused by the elder brothers.

The children's parents told police yesterday that they knew nothing of the goings on in their home. They were released after about two hours of questioning.
