Last update - 03:30 05/06/2008 Report: Terrorists try to lure IAF officer in effort to kidnap him By Haaretz Service Tags: Shin Bet, Israel Air Force  The Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet security service actively tring to locate and pursue an alleged terrorist cell which is suspected of attempting to entice an Israel Air Force officer to meet with them supposedly in order to kidnap him, Channel 10 is reporting Wednesday. The officer received a telephone call last Thursday from a man claiming to be the commander of a secret IAF squadron who was attempting to persuade him to come meet him in person. The officer said the man spoke to him with a discernible Arabic accent. He also tried to obtain information as to the nature of his IAF service, and sought to arrange a meeting at a location in the south to discuss an offer to join the secret squadron. During the course of the conversation, the officer became suspicious and began recording. He then reported the incident to authorities. The IDF and the Shin Bet began an urgent investigation in an attempt to pinpoint the source of the phone call. In addition, all IDF units have received renewed warnings to be aware of attempted kidnappings.
