Family of MIA Yehuda Katz: No Syria deal until our son returned
By Yossi Melman, Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: Israel, Syria, Yehuda Katz

The family of an Israeli soldier missing since the first Lebanon war has petitioned the High Court of Justice to prohibit any peace agreement with Syrian pending the return of their son.

The soldier in question, Yehuda Yekutniel Katz, has been missing since the Basultan-Ya'akov battle.

The petition, which was submitted on behalf of the family by attorney Yishai Sarid, asks the High Court to issue a conditional order against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni "to fulfill their legal and ethical obligation toward the missing soldier."

In addition, the petition demands that the court orders the ministers to ask Syria, during the framework of the current indirect negotiations, to relay all information it may have regarding missing soldier.

The petition also demands negotiators ask Syria and to exhaust efforts to locate this missing soldier.
