Dismissed employee reinstated after workers group intervention
By Ido Solomon, TheMarker
Tags: National Workers Organization

A soap and detergent factory worker who was fired without the appropriate legal procedures was reinstated to his old job Tuesday after the National Workers Organization (NWO) intervened.

The worker, Zohar Dalia, began working for the factory's logistics department in 1997, as a contracted warehouse stockkeeper, and in 1998 was hired as a regular, full-time staff member.

Two weeks ago he was summoned to a meeting with the firm's CEO, where he says he was summarily fired, without being given the right of a hearing, having been informed that the firm's financial condition necessitated layoffs. He received a letter of dismissal that same day. He attempted to discuss the reasons for his dismissal with his direct supervisors that day, but he learned that they had been unaware of the move.

The employee turned to the NWO, which sent a letter to the factory to protest the handling of the affair, and demanded that the decision be revoked. The company's legal advisor was quick to respond: "Due to an error, the employee was not given a hearing. In light of this fact, the letter of dismissal is revoked. The management will reconsider the employee's dismissal only after a hearing has been held, taking his claims and other pertinent issues into consideration. The management will be in contact with the employee directly on the matter of his continued employment."
