Last update - 16:20 01/06/2008 El Al wins international award for frequent flyer scheme By Hannah Glass Tags: frequent flyer, El Al  Israel's national airline won award for its frequent flyer promo on flights to Israel from New York and Miami. Israel's national airline, El Al, recently received an international air industry award for the "Best Bonus Promotion in 2007," for an offer for members of its frequent flyer club. The airline was honored by the Freddie Awards for the "Matmid" promotion, which enables members to accumulate enough points for a round trip ticket on flights to Israel from New York and Miami. The ceremony took place in April in Phoenix. The award was accepted by Gracie Ninger, the supervisor of El Al's frequent flyer clubs in the U.S. and Mexico. Advertisement Accepting the award, Ninger said that El Al club members "were really happy with the offer." She said that the airline tries "very hard to listen to our members." El Al was also among the Freddie Awards' top five list of frequent flyer clubs to offer the best customer service and the best assistance to its "elite level" club members. The most popular frequent flyer schemes were voted for by more than 600,000 frequent flyers, as part of the Freddie Awards program that was established in 1988 by InsideFlyer Magazine Bookmark to del.icio.us   Going for the gold Israel's athletes made a forceful debut on the opening day of the Olympic Games.
