Haredi man detained for sexually assaulting 7-year-old girl
By Jonathan Lis, Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: Jerusalem magistrates court

The Jerusalem Magistrates Court on Wednesday extended the remand of a 23-year-old Haredi man, who had allegedly cut the hair of a 7-year-old girl after following her to her home.

The court heard that the suspect stalked the girl in the Haredi Har Nof neighborhood in the city, followed her into the building, pulled her hair and smashed her head against the floor. He then cut a lock of her hair and fled the scene. The man was later located by the victim's father, leading to his arrest.

Police believe the man is a serial attacker, who is suspected to have been involved in 20 similar cases nationwide, from which he derived sexual pleasure.

The suspect admitted to the act, and said it turned him on sexually.
