Last update - 14:26 25/05/2008 Israel sends $1.5 million in aid to China for earthquake relief By The Associated Press Tags: Israel, china, earthquake Israel has sent a plane full of humanitarian supplies to China to help victims of a 7.8-magnitude earthquake last month. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arye Mekel said the plane was on its way to southern China carrying clothing, medical supplies, generators and tents for victims of the May 12 earthquake. Mekel estimated the shipment was worth $1.5 million and said it was due to arrive in China later Sunday. According to Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, "This is the minimum that the State of Israel can do in order to express the friendship between Israel and the Chinese people."
