Two men shot to death in Kiryat Ata drive-by murder

Two northern residents on Friday night were killed in a drive-by shooting at Kiryat Ata's Independence Junction, according to Israel Radio.

The pair, a 26- and 27-year-old, were known to the police, which indicates a suspected criminal background to the killing.

Police believe there was only one shooter, who opened fire on both of the victims while they were waiting for the traffic light to change, hitting them multiple times in the chest and head.

The victims then reportedly drove approximately 200 meters before coming to a stop facing the wrong way in traffic, where they were pronounced dead by Magen David Adom emergency services personnel.

According to an initial report, the passing car from which the men were shot subsequently fled the scene. Police later set up roadblocks in the area in search of the car, described by witnesses as a grey or gold Toyota Corolla.
