(AP) Last update - 03:15 14/05/2008 MK Orlev wants to end former MK Bishara's retirement payments By Zvi Zrahiya, Haaretz Correspondent Tags: Israel, Zevulun Orlev  The chairman of the National Religious Party, Zevulun Orlev, has demanded that the Knesset terminate its retirement payments to former MK Azmi Bishara, who left Israel last year amid suspicions that he collaborated with Hezbollah. The security forces suspect that Bishara received hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash during the Second Lebanon War. "It has come to my attention that Bishara has been receiving a stipend ever since he fled," Orlev told Haaretz. The monthly payments are to the tune of NIS 7,000, he added. The Knesset administration says Bishara's retirement payments are part of the terms of his employment, which cannot be revoked without legislation. Advertisement Bishara, the chairman of the Balad party, is suspected of having been in contact with Hezbollah intelligence agents during the 34-day conflict. Shin Bet officials accused him of providing "information, suggestions and recommendations," including censored material, to his contacts in Lebanon during the war. In an interview from Amman, Jordan, Bishara said last year that he was a victim of political persecution. "It is very clear they have a plot," he said.
