Israel Defense Forces orchestra Independence Day parade
Location: Haifa
Date: Thursday, May 8
Time: 11:30 A.M.

For the first time, the Israel Defense Forces orchestra will team up with military orchestras from all over the world, for a parade through the streets of Haifa.

The performance will bring together 10 military orchestras from around the world for a visual and musical experience, including a marching band, during which each orchestra will perform a repertoire of its songs.

On the eve of the performance, the members of the orchestras will be hosted in communities in the north and south of Israel.

At 11:30 A.M., the orchestras will set out from Ben-Gurion Boulevard at the corner of Hamanhigim Street and march down Allenby Street, along Rothschild Boulevard and to Tzahal Street. From there, the orchestras will march to the stadium.

The second part of the parade, "Military Orchestras March for Peace," will begin at 2 P.M. in the presence of the mayor of Haifa, Yona Yahav, and the IDF Deputy Chief of Staff, Major-General Dan Harel. Some 12 paratroopers, each carrying his own national flag, will parachute into the center of the stadium.

This will be followed by a joint performance of all the orchestras, comprising some 400 musicians, led by IDF conductor Lieutenant Colonel Mishe Yaaron.

The performance will include a showcase by all the orchestras which will conclude with a performance of the IDF march, "Heveinu Shalom," and "Hatikva."
