A U.S. subsidiary of Ormat Industries, Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ORA) and Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. announced late last week that the two companies entered into an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) agreement to build a 5.3 MW recovered energy facility in Morton County, North Dakota. Ormat's system will increase the effective energy output of the existing facility by about 25% by utilizing heat normally lost in the production of electricity. The facility, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2009, will produce enough electricity for about 5,000 residential customers without burning additional fuel. (Yoram Gabison)

Dual-listed 012 Smile.Communications (Nasdaq:SMLC) communications services provider has asked the Ministry of Communications to expand its current mobile WiMAX trials to the Tel Aviv-Ramat Gan area. The trial will provide users with an Internet connectivity rate fast enough to support mobile telephony and a variety of Internet-based applications. 012 Smile is aiming to enter the cellular market as an additional operator. 012 Smile is a 72.4% owned subsidiary of Internet Gold-Golden Lines (NASDAQ: IGLD - News) one of Israel's leading communications groups. Elbit Imaging subsidiary Plaza Centers, an international real estate development firm traded on the London and Warsaw exchanges, has announced plans to distribute 57 million Euro in dividends to its shareholders on June 12, subject to approval by its general assembly on May 27. The announcement is in keeping with a promise to shareholders after reporting that net profits for 2007 had soared 15.5-fold compared to 2006 with the sale of five assets in Hungary and Poland. With another 33 additional projects in the pipeline, the firm's assets have been appraised by outside assessors at 3.5 billion euro. (Michael Rochvarger)

Ludan Engineering - engineering, procurement, construction supervision and project management providers for industrial projects and supplier of turnkey projects worldwide - announced that its board has approved plans to award its shareholders until May 18 dividends of NIS 0.62 per share. The NIS 6,995,500 dividends constitutes 62% of the firm's issued shares. The distribution is planned for June 2. (TheMarker)

Blue Square grocery chain plans to launch a new, "greener," corporate brand, which will encompass its entire food and non-food (toiletries, cosmetics and homewares) line of products. Production of all products included in the brand will be environmentally friendly, and emphasis will be placed on organic production for its food products. Although not all of the edibles will be organically grown, meticulous care will be taken to ensure that packaging will be non-polluting. The strategic move is to be led by Blue Square's controlling shareholder, Dudi Weissman. (Ora Coren)

D. Rotshtein Construction and Assets is facing a NIS 10 million suit filed by construction giant Solel Boneh, which claims that the TASE traded company with a market cap of NIS 18.7 million, has failed to pay Solel NIS 7 million as agreed in 2005 in arbitration proceedings surrounding the Netanya Academic Campus. Solel also alleges that the firm has failed to release $600 guarantees that Solel had provided for the project. (Hila Raz)

The Israeli biopharma Can-Fite, which develops treatments for cancer, liver diseases and autoimmune inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis, announced yesterday that it has successfully completed the Phase I clinical study on its CF 102 drug, an orally administered therapy which targets liver cancer and hepatitis. The therapies, which are centered around a single cell receptor known as the A3 adenosine receptor, have a good safety profile and are highly specific. This is the second therapy that has been developed by the firm. It is now in the human clinical trial phase. Can-Fite shares have gained 7% since the beginning of 2008. (Yael Pollak)
