IDF troops at checkpoint shoot dead knife-carrying Palestinian
By Avi Issacharoff, Haaretz Correspondent, and Reuters

Israel Defense Forces soldiers on Saturday shot dead a Palestinian man who arrived at an army checkpoint south of the West Bank city of Hebron carrying a knife, Palestinian officials and Israeli medics said.

Soldiers manning the checkpoint opened fire on Khalil al-Za'ari, 28, after he ignored calls to drop his knife, an IDF spokeswoman said.

The man died on his way to a hospital in Israel, Israeli medics said. The knife found in his possession was measured at 15 centimeters long.
