Teenager stabbed to death outside Rishon Letzion nightclub
By Roni Singer-Heruti, Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: Israel, Crime

A 17-year-old Lod resident was stabbed to death early Saturday morning outside of a nightclub in the industrial district of Rishon Letzion.

Police found the murder weapon at the scene and have detained 8 youths who are believed to have witnessed the killing, but have so far made no arrests.

Around 5am, emergency services received a call that a teenager was critically wounded outside the "Shelter" bar in Rishon Letzion.

Paramedics who arrived at the scene found the victim, Yaakov Getta of Lod, suffering from severe knife wounds to his head and neck. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, but succumbed to his wounds minutes later.

Initial police investigations have determined that the stabbing took place during a brawl between two groups of teenagers.

Most weekends, police deploy large numbers of officers to patrol nightclub districts, often the scene of violent incidents of this nature. Though police were present in the area of the stabbing, no officers were patrolling the street where the stabbing took place
