American rabbi practices peacemaking in Damascus

In recent years, Rabbi Marc Gopin increasingly finds himself in meetings with senior religious leaders in Syria, where he is considered a guest of honor.

Gopin is the director of the Center for World Religions, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University in Virginia. He is a strong believer of the potential religious texts have to encourage peace making.
