Ben-Gurion airport placed on high alert over hazardous material leak
By Zohar Blumenkrantz , Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: Ben-Gurion airpot, Israel

Ben-Gurion International Airport was placed on high alert Saturday afternoon after an EL Al pilot on a cargo plane from the Belgian city of Liège reported a possible hazardous material leak from the aircraft's cargo hold.

After the plane landed, an airport security team boarded the plane and found a small amount of coal that was not accounted for in the plane's inventory list, in the cargo area.

The security team removed the material from the plane and sent it to be analyzed.
