'Reverse exodus' into Sinai at Passover By Zohar Blumenkrantz Tags: Israel travel, Sinai  Some 50,000 people are expected to pass through the Taba border crossing into Egypt this Passover. According to figures released by the Israel Airports Authority, which runs Israel's border crossings, this will include Israelis en route to Sinai's beaches as well as Christian pilgrims headed for the ancient Saint Catherine's Monastery, located at the foot of Mount Sinai. The Advertisement authority estimated that the southern resort town of Eilat, which borders Taba, will receive some 120,000 visitors via 1,900 flights. Israel's southern border crossing with Jordan is expected to handle some 14,000 people over the holiday.
