Last update - 19:56 06/04/2008 Three Israeli teens detained in Tokyo after drugs found in luggage By Barak Ravid, Haaretz Correspondent and Haaretz Service Tags: israel, japan, amsterdam  Three Israeli teenagers were detained on Friday at Tokyo's international airport, when Ecstasy pills were found in antiques they brought from Amsterdam, Army Radio reported on Sunday. The three high school students alleged that they did not know there were drugs in the antiques, the radio said. The teens are being held by Japanese authorities and an investigation is underway to determine who asked them to carry the antiques and for whom they were designated. Advertisement The defense lawyer told Israel's Army Radio that the three were victims of an Israeli drug distribution ring, which is expert in taking advantage of other young Israeli travelers' naivete. "The Japanese authorities are treating the three fairly," he said. "They are not interrogating them or allowing anyone to talk to them, because they are minors," he added. Israel's consul to Japan is set to meet the three at the detention center where they are being held tomorrow. The Israeli embassy in Japan, the Foreign Ministry's crisis department and the minors' families were informed of the predicament, Army Radio reported.
