Ben-Gurion Airport witnesses fourth accident in a week
By Zohar Blumenkranz, Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: Lufthansa, Israel, safety

Less than 24 hours after a Lufthansa aircraft was hit by an Israel Airports Authority (IAA) All-Terrain Vehicle, Ben-Gurion International Airport witnessed another fault in aviation safety on Sunday, the fourth within a week.

A private jet deviated from the runway during landing, hitting a number of torches. Subsequently, the runway was briefly closed.

On Saturday, an IAA ATV severely damaged a German Boeing 747-400 as the crew was preparing to open the flight for boarding. Following the accident, the flight was postponed to Sunday afternoon.

On Wednesday, an IAA vehicle hit the door of the Italian Mistral Air cargo aircraft.

Two days earlier, airport staff removed four wheel brakes from a stationary Falcon 900 private jet. The aircraft rolled down 40 meters. No one was injured.
