Israeli, Jordanian ex-wrestlers meet for 1st time since 1973 bout
By Haaretz Staff and Channel 10

Haaretz.com/Channel 10 daily feature for March 27, 2008.

On the eve of the Yom Kippur War, two champion wrestlers from enemy states battled it out in front of a frenzied crowd of tens of thousands at Tel Aviv's Yad Eliyahu stadium.

A month ago, Raphael Halperin Halperin was told that his Jordanian rival Abu Antar was actually living in Jaffa, and the two met for the first time in thirty five years.

Despite the amiable atmosphere of the nostalgic meeting, the former wrestlers still disagreed over the question of who ultimately won the fight - with Halperin actually becoming angry enough to demand the interview be stopped.
