Police on Tuesday afternoon were searching for a woman near the town of Hadera, in the Sharon region, whom they suspected of intending to carry out a terror attack.

Police had initially declared a high alert in the Sharon region, which is north of Tel Aviv, but subsequently lowered it despite continuing to search for the woman.

The woman was described as wearing glasses, black trousers and a red shirt, and carrying a bag.

Following the alert, there was a heightened presence of police forces in the Sharon region. Police used helicopters and erected roadblocks to aid their search.
