Becoming Amy Winehouse... but just for Purim
By Haaretz Service
Tags: Amy Winehouse, Purim

It hasn't been the easiest year for British Jewish soul singer Amy Winehouse. True, her album "Back to Black" soared to the top of the charts and she even managed to please music critics - never the easiest crowd to charm.

Nonetheless, Winehouse has run the risk of becoming a pop culture punchline as her battles with drug addiction have eclipsed her musical accomplishments of late.

True, nobody wants to beat a dead horse, or pick on a pop star who has struggled with a crack addiction and whose husband is incarcerated - especially when she could barely utter a single coherent word while accepting at the Grammy awards this year.

Still, there is no denying that Winehouse is blessed with amazing talent, something that sets her apart from the other queens of the tabloids Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears.

Her look, her voice, and her style have made Amy a pop icon and the undisputed standout artist of the past year, and make her our choice for top purim costume this year.
