Four people killed in car accidents across Israel over the weekend

A resident of the Upper Galilee village of Tuba-Zangaria was killed early Saturday when his car overturned on the road between the village and Rosh Pina.

The 32-year-old, who was alone in the car, apparently lost control over the vehicle and overturned after taking a sharp turn. Police are investigating the incident.

On Friday, a woman was killed in a car accident near Beit Shemesh, and four others were injured.

An initial probe into the incident revealed that a vehicle collided head-on with another car for unknown reasons.

Firefighting teams that rushed to the scene of the accident pulled the woman out of the vehicle in critical condition, and she died shortly after. The two children were evacuated via helicopter to Hadassah University Hospital, Ein-Kerem, in Jerusalem, both in serious condition. Two other people were taken by ambulance for treatment after they were stabilized.

Earlier Friday a woman and her daughter were killed in Jerusalem after their car was hit by an oncoming vehicle. Three people were moderately hurt in the accident, among them the woman's husband.

The police investigation revealed that the car in which the family was riding slammed into an oncoming vehicle while trying to make an unsafe turn at an excessive speed. The driver was apparently not a member of the family. When the driver spotted the oncoming car, he apparently lost control of the vehicle and slammed into it. The mother and daughter, who were sitting in the back seat, were not wearing seat belts.

A paramedic who arrived at the scene said "the father was fully conscious the entire time. He incessantly asked how his wife and daughter were doing. We told him they were being treated by another paramedic team. We tried to ask him what had happened but he didn't remember anything from the event."
