Three people killed in car crashes in Jerusalem, Petah Tikva
By Haaretz Service
Tags: Highway safety, Israel

Three people were killed in the pre-dawn hours Monday in automobile collisions in Jerusalem and Petah Tikva.

In an accident near the Biblical Zoo in south Jerusalem, two youths, around 20 years of age, were killed when their car went out of control at high speed, turned over, and struck an electric pole.

The youths have yet to be identified.

Police said that the high rate of speed at which the car was traveling was the apparent cause of the crash.

A second fatal crash occurred on Jabotinsky Street in Petah Tikva, where a car struck a tractor, killing the driver of the automobile.
